Billings Arts Association member, Doris (Dori) Eccles,
was born and raised in Billings.  She was extremely
active as a teen, working as a life guard, teaching
swimming, arts and crafts, softball, acrobatic dance,
with the Billings Recreation Department, usherette at
Mustangs games, and serving as a Girl Scout camp
counselor.  Dori graduated from Billings Senior High
and received a Business Administration and Masters
of Social Work degrees from the University of Denver.
  After college, Dori worked for 38 years as a social worker in the Denver area before retiring and returning to Billings.  Here she was a Court Services Worker with the Thirteenth Judicial Court five years before retiring.  She has received numberous Social Work awards.

Dori has studied painting with Bernadine Fox, Tom Lynch, Nita Engle, Don Getz, Frank Webb, Tim Shinabarger, Tony Couch, and attended many workshops with locally known artists.  Dori has a n intense love of nature and a firm desire to share the splendors, which abound in Montana and our National Parks.  She abides by her philosophy to "see beauty on the common things of life."
Dori teaches adult art classes at the Billings Community Center, Michaels with some individual students.  Her paintings are in private collections around the U.S., including Louisiana, Ohio, the John Paul Jones Mediation Centers in Florida and California and th Billings Deaconess Hospital.  Dori has earned a number of local and regional awards for her paintings. 

Each year Dori has participated in the Festival of Trees Quick Draw, and she has provided the paintings for the posters and prints used of the fundraisers for the Prevention of Elder Abuse.
